Artist's inspiration:
Throughout the design the narrative of the building was considered. The journey visitors take was carefully curated to prepare them for the climax of the mushroom ceremony. Visitors moved from private, to public, from pre-ritual preparatory spaces to post-ritual integration spaces. The function of spaces are reflected in the material use: smooth walls for circulation, rough walls for pause. Stone for public and timber, for private. Stone floors for walking, earthen floors for sitting.
